How do I get the other party served?: Service can be done through private process (someone 18 years or older who does not have an interest in the case), certified mail with restricted delivery, or the Sheriff’s Office. 1. What is a show cause order?: A show cause order is issued by the Circuit Court, directing a plaintiff or defendant to appear in court to testify and present evidence as to why the Court should not issue a specific order.

2. What does service mean?: Service means that the defendant is notified that a complaint has been filed against her/him.
